The RMA 510 V is a wide bodied self propelled Battery Lawnmower and is ideal for medium to large sized gardens. Featuring Vario-Drive self-propulsion that allows the operator to adjust the mowing speed to their requirements. The handle has 3 height settings so you can find the most comfortable position.
Achieve your desired lawn height with the easy to use cutting height adjustment. There is a large 75 L catcher. The RMA 510 V Cordless Lawnmower is part of our AP Cordless System - the battery can be used on a wide range of other tools from the AP range. It has a Locking Key feature which prevents the lawn mower being started accidentally.
This 36V battery-powered lawn mower is great for medium to larger sized gardens. The run time may vary based on battery type, charge level and capacity, model, operating style and conditions. Note that the battery and charger are sold separately.

Great mower for flat lawns
The battery life in this is incredible. It cuts cleanly, does well on damp grass and overall I’m really impressed. The downfall is the front sits really low to the ground so that on the lowest setting the mower constantly slows and seems hard to move forward on anything other than completely flat turf. If your lawns are flat I 100% recommend this mower as it’s genuinely a really great piece of equipment but if you’re dealing with uneven or thicker/more dense grasses then the makita 18v allows for a lower cut

It takes some getting used to when you havn't used a self propelled one before, The area it cuts is huge compared to my old stihl and the catcher is much bigger meaning you don't need to stop and empty it as often.

Thanks to the wet weather I've only had one opportunity to mow our lawn but that's been enough to make some judgement. On the plus side are the lighter weight compared to my petrol mower and while I bought the self propelled version it's easily pushed when manoeuvring in awkward places. The large wheels probably help with that too. It's also much quieter. The variable speed control is excellent allowing you to adjust to a comfortable pace. The attachments to catch, mulch or spread means all the mowing options are available. I mowed for about 40 minutes with the shute and the 300 battery still showed 4 LEDs, so while it wasn't heavy grass battery capacity isn't going to be an issue. I that the motor only increased power on a couple of occasions so the echo mode is helping power consumption. The self propelled feature operates independently of the blades which makes it easy to move once the job is done. All pluses for me in caring for my back. There are a couple of things that I'm not so fond of, especially the rubber flap at the rear of the mower, clearly there to protect you from objects like stones that the blades might hit. The problem I've found with that flap happens when you pull the mower backwards, the flap folds back under the mower making it quite difficult to pull back. It was suggested I lift the mower when I want to pull it back but that's awkward and negates the safety the flap is to provide. According to the instructions the control bar for the blades is closed up the the mower handlebar with one hand then to engage the self propelled the other control bar is drawn back to the handlebar with the other hand. Unless one releases grip on the first control bar the fingers on that hand are then jammed as the second control bar is gripped to the handlebar. Perhaps it's something I'll get used to. Lastly, a minor gripe that when using the "side discharge" because it's on the side of the mower cutting up to edges can only be approached from one direction.

The experience I had using my brand new Stihl RMA510V Self Propelled Battery Lawn Mower was wonderful! Working out how to start the mower took me a while as did getting used to using it. Initially, even at tortoise pace it moved quite fast. However, on the first go, I gained control of the mower very quickly so it did not try “to run away from me”- it was just a matter of getting used to managing the controls. I am very happy with the results of my lovely mown lawn. The 2 batteries provided enough power to mow the whole lawn, though I think that in time, It will only take one battery. Previously, and for many years, I used a petrol driven lawn mower which also did a great job. I researched all types of lawn mowers and brands until I decided on this one. Now, with my Stihl, it also does a great job; in addition, it saves on time, my energy and probably money as well. If my Stihl battery powered, self propelled lawn mower leads a long happy working life as did my petrol lawn mower, I would be very happy. It is also a welcome addition to my “family” of Stihl tools as I own 2 others. I value my high quality Stihl lawn mower- it is a luxury to own, a dream to use and overall a very impressive lawn mower which I would recommend highly. Thankyou to Stihl and to the members of my local Stihl shop who provided me with advice and a prompt delivery of my new Stihl mower. Cathy.
