About

GYC History

In June 2006 two of the oldest established mower businesses (Lawrence Bros Power Equipment – est 1927 and Penrith Mowers – est 1974) combined forces creating GYC with a view to offer customers an experienced, convenient and consistent level of service in the lawn and garden industry.

Between July 2006 and February 2009 GYC went on to acquire numerous other established businesses in the Sydney region whilst also opening new stores.
(Forest Mowers – est 1970, Rotago Mowers – est 1970, Duffy’s Mowers – est 1960 and a new store location at Castle Hill)

July 2012, saw our Hornsby store and Thornleigh workshop merge, moving to a new premises in Thornleigh providing more space and ultimately a better sales and service experience for our customers.

Feeling satisfied with the positioning of our 8 GYC stores across the Sydney Metropolitan area we thought it was now time to create the perfect image for GYC and from September 2012 our customers will start to notice the new and exciting GYC Mower Depot branding. Customers will be served by our Garden Army team members who will be able to help with all of your lawn and garden enquiries.

We have established a set of core values that underpin our GYC Mower Depots:

  • Maintain a clean, well organized and safe work environment that is fun to work in
  • Always be ethical and professional in all dealings with customers, suppliers and team members
  • Respect one another, encourage involvement and value all team members input
  • Consistently exceed our customer’s expectations
  • Maintain market leadership by providing quality and value for money
